A cat can see in the dark through their eyes that reflect the light : their retina contains a special layer called the tapetum (tapetum lucidum) which acts like a mirror and reflects the light back. This increases the exposure to light of the retina cells. The cats retina cells are 3 times denser than human ones.
Cats have one of the largest fields of vision of all mammals, almost 280 degrees, compared with 180 degrees for humans.
