Cats skeleton is made up of 230 bones​​

Compared to just 206 in the human body.​ The cat’s tail is an extension of the spinal column, and consists of mobile vertebrae called caudal vertebrae. The number varies according to the individual (from 14 to 24 bones), and they reduce in size towards the tip of the tail.

As a result it’s possible for a cat to fracture their tail. A fracture at the end of the tail can heal by itself, but a fractuyre towards the middle may need veterinary intervention, including possible amputation if the nerves have been damaged.
