WHAT DOES THE PROJECT SOLVE?

An emergency fund to AKUT Search & Rescue Association was deployed to help replenish needed material equipment and available supplies used by canine teams with the utmost objective to ensure continued search and rescue operations across 11 earthquake-impacted cities in Türkiye.

Project Roots

AKUT Search & Rescue Association is an entirely voluntary, non-governmental organization involved in searching, assisting, and rescuing all those that require support in natural disaster and emergency situations

In the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that shook Türkiye during February 2023, weeks long search and rescue missions were conducted to save people and pets from the debris. The magnitude and severity of natural disaster required simultaneous rescue operations across 11 impacted cities for a long duration, which demanded the continued availability of essential equipment, supplies and materials needed by rescue organizations.

Royal Canin Foundation activated its emergency fund to help support AKUT in replenishing its most essential emergency supplies and equipment for its canine teams. These included, canine gears, dog booties, leashes, flashlights, trackers, protective housing, among others.
